Firday Favorites 10.11.19

Another amazing week is in the books, my friends.  So much to be grateful for.  My heart is overflowing with appreciation for all of the fun opportunities and connections this week brought my way.

Some days, and some weeks, are better than others.  And while historically I haven’t always been the best and stopping and appreciating all of the small little wins, the good days or the good weeks – today I am.  This was a good week.  And so today I’m pausing for just a moment and celebrating it.  Enjoying it.  And hopefully taking some of this momentum with me into next week and see if this good feeling can grow.

I had so much fun this week collaborating with my friend Shannon and Kristi on the HapiArt giveaway and was overwhelmed with the responses from all of YOU. Thank you to all who entered.  It was so fun seeing all of your entries and response.  I knew you would all love her art as much as we do.

I also had so many great conversations and connections this week with other local female entrepreneurs, and felt so inspired and supported by our conversations.  Whatever it is that you do, or are pursuing, I can say from experience that it’s so important to surround yourself with other people who are on a similar journey as you.  You are going to doubt yourself a million times, and feel as if you have no idea as to what you’re doing – so you need those people next to you cheering you on, giving advice or sharing lessons learned from their own experience.  It’s the only way to grow.   This week I’m feeling especially grateful for all of the connections and support that came my way.

I started a great new documentary series (you know I LIVE for a good documentary), found a new favorite cardigan, started a #last90dayschallenge, got a new red lip color and so much more…..

This was a fun week, friends, in ways both big and small.  So without any further ado (AND….I just learned that it’s “ado” and not “adeau” – see this week was filled with little gems ;)) here are this week’s Friday Favorites!

No. 1

Amazon leopard print cardigan

Probably the best $35 I’ve ever spent on amazon.  I have been living in this cardigan since I got it last week.  It’s soft and cozy and the perfect addition to throw on over jeans and a t-shirt, lounging around at home, or even out to lunch with friends.  Cute enough to look pulled together – but soft and cozy enough that it will be your “go-to” sweater for lounging at home.

No. 2

Beauty Counter’s “Red” Color Intense Lipstick

If you watched my stories on Instagram this week you saw that I just received this new anniversary lipstick in the mail and I LOVE it.  It’s the perfect modern red.  I will be wearing this color on repeat all fall and winter.

No. 3

Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror

You guys, my favorite mirror is ON SALE!  It’s 20% right now which is why I included it in today’s round-up.  I had my eye on this mirror for a while and I finally purchased it a few months ago when we moved into our new house.  It’s even prettier in person.  I have the 3″ mirror and it’s the perfect size for over our mantle – and right now it’s almost $100 off!

No.4

Roxanne Assoulin “suit up” Bracelets

Ok so this is a first for me on here.  Everything I typically share on here is things that I actually have/use/read/etc.  But this is just something I WANT.  I’ve been eyeing this stack of bracelets for a while and I have NOT purchased them.  I’m waiting until I hit a specific goal and earn them on my own…..but if any of you are looking for a litle arm candy, nothing would make me happier than to see these gorgeous bracelets on one of YOU.  I love all of Roxeanne Assoulin bracelets – but this set is my favorite.  So chic and understated with the black and gold.

No. 5

Megmade

You’ve heard me talk about Megmade a lot on here before, and it’s for good reason.  They truly helped me put a lot of our home together.  Our family room rug is from here as well as our gorgeous oversized velvet ottoman and our bright blue buffet table in our entryway.  Megmade is known for taking pieces of antique furniture and transforming them into gorgeous new pieces.  But they also have a full design service and their own line of furniture.  They ship all over the U.S, and you can view almost all of their inventory online (so no need to worry if you don’t live in Chicago).  Plus, their entire staff is genuinely so kind and warm and such a joy to work with.

I love supporting local businesses whenever I can, and they are exactly why.  A company made up of good humble people, working hard, sharing their raw talent and passion.  So happy to see them doing so well and excited to share what I love about them with all of you.

No. 6

Nextflix documentary series, “7 Days Out”

I know I just shared a documentary last week too, but this one was so good I had to share another one.  This series is based on what it’s like behind the scenes the “seven days” prior to a major event (a restaurant opening, a fashion show, a space shuttle launch).  It is fascinating.  I am fascinated by people in general – but especially following along with really passionate smart people trying to build and create something in the “final moments”.  I watched the episode on 11 Madison Park which was recently declared the “Best Restaurant in the World”, so for me, it’s was especially fascinating seeing the behind the scenes of the opening of this iconic restaurant.  An easy weekend watch if you’re looking for something new.

No. 7

Target satin pajama set

I don’t know why, but I am pretty sure all of my pajamas are from Target.  I have this pair that I have lived in all summer and early fall.  But I just purchased these for the cooler days.  They’re just simple, super soft and inexpensive (which is kind of my criteria for jammies).

No. 8

Ash kids sneakers

I purchased these high-tops for Lillian for the start of school, but she just started wearing them recently and I forgot how much I love them.  I really love Ash shoes for myself – and was so excited when I found these on Amazon for such a great price ($25!)  A super cute fun pair of shoes for any young girl.

No. 9

Rachel Hollis’ #Last90Days Challenge

Regardless of whether or not you like things like this, the truth of the matter is, the last 90 days of the year are usually the ones where we let our goals/habits slip.  So this year I decided to join this (free) “last 90 days” challenge and I’m really enjoying it.  It’s simple ideas/practices that we can all put into place.  Drink more water.  Get up an hour early (which you know I already do – and I LIVE for my early mornings).  Move your body.  Find 5 things to be grateful for, daily.  And last but not least, eliminate one category of food that’s not serving you (this is NOT a diet – you are just being more mindful of ONE food group.  We can all do that).  I find little challenges like this are good check-ins for me – especially as we get into these busier months of the year.  I would love to know if any of you are also doing this, or something similar and what youre experiences have been.

Ok friends, that’s it for this week.  As usual, I’d love to hear from all of YOU.  What are you liking, what do you want to see more of or even less of?  I write this every week for all of YOU and nothing makes me happier than hearing from YOU!!

And if you missed last week’s Friday Favorites be sure to give it a peak…

Hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll catch up with you Monday!

xoxo,
Katy
