JP and I literally just booked a trip for spring break with the kids for two weeks from now. Who does that? Nothing like planning your family’s spring break last minute. Gotta love living in the moment.
We’re usually really big planners, and LOVE planning months (if not years) in advance. But honestly, these days, we just can’t seem to get ahead of things. Anyone else?
Between making decisions on the kitchen, being “IN it” with the kids (and I mean really in it, a little breathing room would be nice), work, and just LIFE…..getting ahead of things feels harder than usual.
But honestly, I also kind of love this new mentality too. It feels a little easier sometimes just to wing it and play things by ear. A little less pressure if you will.
I think we’ve gotten pretty good lately at just figuring things out as we go and I’d love to keep incorporating some of that mentality into things moving forward.
Ok, so back to our trip. We’re heading to one of our favorite spots. Yep, southern California (put me anywhere by the ocean and I’m happy). If you’re new around here, we spent about two months in southern California this fall and it was truly life-changing. You can read more about our trip and where we stayed here.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get any of the houses we stayed in before (I wonder why….lol?). But it’s all good. We found something that will work great (it’s tiny, but the best location) and is a block away from our favorite beach spot.
So now I have total beach fever. I pulled out all my old suits and realized I’ve basically only worn two this past year (this black Andie suit was my “go-to” for our last trip and this bikini from Target that I’m wearing below), and I could use a little “refresh” if you will.
Here’s my criteria when it comes to swimwear. I want something that’s comfortable, I can actually play with my kids in, and still looks chic and put together. I usually tend to stick to neutrals when it comes to suits. And I like being able to wear my swimsuits with jean shorts and a sweater and it looks cute enough to grab lunch. So something either black/white/animal print (anything animal is a neutral in my eye).
All different price points and suits for every body – but all still effortlessly chic
I just ordered the Summersault Marina suit (which by the way comes in a long torso option for all my tall ladies here). There are two other investment pieces I’m debating too – this Marysia maillot in white (how gorgeous is that??), and this Vincent James shirt dress to wear as a cover-up and just a great spring everyday piece.
Now, on to the kids. Which somehow never seem to have ANYTHING that fits them.
What about all of you? Are any of you traveling this spring break? I know it’s still a big mix of feelings around travel (which I totally understand), but I hope you’re all finding ways to enjoy some time “off” – even if that’s in your own backyard.
